Yesterday, I bumped into an old schoolmate I had not seen in years.

He had fallen upon very hard times. He was destitute.

And yet, what struck me afterwards was God’s timing.

I had decided to walk somewhere I was not even intending to go. Had I driven, our paths would probably never have crossed.

I was able to buy him some groceries and essentials. But as I walked away, another thought stayed with me:

But for grace, there go I.

None of us is so secure that life cannot change. None of us is self-made. We are all recipients of God’s grace and mercy.

And when that grace has flowed into our lives, God calls us to become an open channel through which it can flow into somebody else’s.

That is the hands and feet of Acts4Transformation.

Love in Action.

Spreading Love in a Loveless World.

But our message to someone who has fallen upon hard times must never end with what we can put into their hands.

God repeatedly asks a powerful question in Scripture:

“What is in your hand?”

A skill?

A gift?

A talent?

A little strength?

An idea?

Something you can make, grow, repair, cook, sell or offer?

Whatever remains, place it in Christ’s hands.

Believe that He can bless it.

Pray that He will guide it.

Use it faithfully.

Allow Him to multiply it.

And perhaps the person receiving help today may, by God's grace, have an overflow to bless somebody else tomorrow.

That is transformation.

Not merely giving something to someone in need, but helping them rediscover what God has already placed within them.

So today we pray:

Lord, let Your grace and mercy flow freely through us. And when we meet someone with seemingly empty hands, help us to remind them to look again.

There may still be something in their hand that Jesus can multiply.

Believe. Pray. Love. Share.
